4th and 5th graders are invited to join Dave and Heather at Black Moshannon State Park to learn Outdoor Cooking Basics.
Cub Scout Webelos will complete their Cast Iron Chef Adventure Loop.
Girl Scout Juniors will complete requirements 1, 3, and 4 for their Simple Meals badge and requirements 2 & 3 of their Camper badge. Girl Scout Juniors who pick the overnight option would be able to complete the entire Simple Meals and Camper badges.
Youth will plan a balanced lunch from available options; learn how to cook over a camp stove, a campfire, and in a Dutch oven; as well as how to safely build, maintain, and extinguish a fire.
Lunch is included in the cost of registration. Please be sure to include any dietary restrictions or allergies in the registration comments.
Registration is limited to 8 youth and advanced registration is required.
The cost of the day program is $10 per scout if registered before July 24 and $14 for late registrations.
All minor children must be accompanied by responsible adults. There is no charge for supervising adults.
Overnight Camping
Attendees can optionally camp overnight for an additional fee. Campers will learn to cook the additional following meals:
- Dutch oven dessert on Friday evening
- Breakfast Saturday morning
- Dinner Saturday evening
- Dessert Saturday evening
- Breakfast Sunday morning
Campers staying overnight Friday are responsible for their own Friday evening supper. All other meals are included in the registration costs.
Campers must provide their own tents and camping gear. Cooking and camp kitchen supplies will be provided.
There is no charge for supervising adults. We will reach out to registered groups to confirm adult information including dietary restrictions prior to the event.
Registration for overnight will close at midnight on July 23.
